Henderson Hills Baptist Church : New Campus

Hillside Cafe´
The Hillside Cafe´ was designed as an informal space for the casual or spontaneous gatherings.  On Sunday mornings, the Cafe´ buzzes with activity as church members enjoy pastries and coffee with friends. The Cafe´ is strategically located next to the Gathering-a larger foyer which acts as a central hug connecting church  members to main point throughout Henderson Hills. The Cafe´ was equipped with the capacity to server large church meals for hundreds of guests seated in the adjacent gymnasium.

Welcome/Information Center
Several welcome areas are placed throughout the church with stylized signage and furniture indicating its purpose. In these areas, volunteers assist church members and guests in navigating the church and its many events and functions.

The stairwells are left open throughout the church to allow for easy navigation and a conscious attempt to promote the movement of natural light.

Gymnasium
The gymnasium acts as a multipurpose room with a full-size basketball court and two cross courts. In addition to the physical activities, the gymnasium is used for religious educational classes and large group meals. The design incorporates a wealth of open light with a large glassed wall facing a picturesque landscape.

Pre-School Room
Classrooms are located throughout Henderson Hills targeting a variety of age groups. The pre-school room features a creative use of color and materials where hard washable surfaces perfect for crafts meet soft surfaces appropriate for reading time. For efficiency and cleanliness, the entire room can be washed down with water.

Sanctuary
Created to be comfortable, flexible and welcoming space, the sanctuary features multi-colored, moveable padded chairs. The dark ceilings and colored spot lighting on the side isles create a theatrical setting. The space can be characterized more as a retreat or a conference center rather than as "high church".

The Village Green
The majority of windows in the church point to The Village Green, a center of courtyard and outdoor activity area. From March to November, Sunday school classes gather in the green space and outdoor concert events are held for church members and guests.
